Just wondering if anyone had a Alcohol Septel Ablation , and what was your outcome from having this procedure
Septical Myectomy Didn't work and this is another option.
Thanks for any information given....

Yes, I had an alcohol septal ablation at Mayo Jacksonville, Florida in March. It was successful and I did not need a pacemaker after it was over. Before the procedure, my aortic valve stenosis was rated severe. I had to have the alcohol ablation before the valve could be replaced. After the ablation, the echocardiogram showed the aortic valve stenosis as moderate, so it looks like I will not be having the valve replacement anytime soon.
The alcohol septal ablation was amazing. I was awake although given medication to relax me. There was absolutely no pain during or after. I’m 86 years old so they would not do open-heart surgery on me.

Thank you so much for the information, hopefully this will go well for me if all my test shows it favorable to have the procedure.
Glad to hear everything is doing well ...

I did have alcohol septal ablation at Mayo and it did work. I do however still have shortness of breath and chest pain, however I now have stiff heart syndrome (cardiac amyloidosis) Since my ablation, my echocardiograms have shown that my alcohol septal ablation was successful.

Was the Amyloidosis caused from the Septel Alcohol Ablation .
I am glad to hear your doing better after the procedure.

Cardiac Amyloidosis as you know is hardening of the outside of the heart and is definitely not associated to alcohol septal ablation.
I have been experiencing eschemic strokes because my heart does not pump an adequate blood supply to my brain.

I am not to familiar with that, thank you for explaining it to me.
I had a Septical Myectomy, and for some reason my Hypertrophic Cardiomyothopthy has come back.
They are suggesting a Alcohol Septel Ablation might be better than redoing a Septical Myectomy,
Again I am glad your procedure worked, and God Bless....

I had an alcohol ablation at UNC about 5 years ago and it was successful; however, I still experience shortness of breath and once in a great while I experience chest discomfort. I was not awake and they must have stopped my heart during the procedure because they had to use something (not sure if manual or not) to get my heart beating again.

Are you being seen at a COE or at least by a HCM specialist?
If not i would highly recommend seeking their opinion about this?

I still have shortness of breath. I’m not really sure I feel any different now that I’ve had the alcohol ablation.
I sometimes have a tight viewing in my chest, but never seems very significant. I found if I cough really hard. The discomfort goes away.
