Yesterday I celebrated my 15th Transplant Anniversary!
It was a day for reflection and remembering the events of that special day. It was a day for honoring the deceased individual and his family who made the decision to save a life. It was a day to remember early recovery when my son called out, "Mom, You're not yellow anymore!"
My husband and I went out for dinner. Lfe is Good!

Congratulations, Rosemary! What a remarkable milestone of life to celebrate. It’s very humbling when you know your life is possible because of a very difficult decision by a loved one’s family. You’re doing them proud, Rosemary, with your gracious positivity, your encouragement for anyone in need and your compassionate nature. This young man’s legacy lives on through you. Happy transplantiversary. ☺️

My transplantiversary falls on the day between my wedding anniversary and my oldest son's birthday. So it's a big celebration anyway. I honestly celebrate it every day 🥳

@athenalee, When I had my 10th anniversary checkup at Mayo, I asked my transplant doctor what I needed to do to live another 10 years. His reply was, "Take your medications. Get your routine labs. No alcohol." I can do that ❤

Thanks for sharing this truly inspiring story @rosemarya . I give thanks for doctors like Thomas Habermann (one of the young residents called him "Le Grand Fromage." He diagnosed my PTSD after months of dead-ends and false starts. We used rituxamab too. That was in 2015.

I'd like to hear other people's experiences. It educates us and connects us to the wisdom that we are seeking. Rosemary, you are already the protagonist in your own profile story. You just have to write it and get it published.

Agreed Dana! I am 62 as well, and I hadn’t even imagined I could live another 25 years with my new liver!

The Thanksgiving Day sun is setting. It is probably not your Transplant Anniversary on this day, but I know that Thanksgiving Day is a perfect day for transplant recipients to remember and reflect on the Gift of Life. Some of us are recently transplanted, and some of us are further along.

I want to tag: @azdan99 @nanmargaret @hello1234, @leahdrose @estrada53, @joko @glinda @brenwhite - I feel inspired and I feel hopeful that maybe(?) I can be a feature someday! How about you ? How do you feel when you read this amazing story?

Awesome 25 Years that's got to be a record thanks for Sharing. I myself being just 4 years in almost really appreciates hearing this kind of word. At the age myself of 62 think my current one should last me well into my 80s which is pretty good since I was facing death in my 50s.
