Grapefruit and CBD can block or increase other medications.

You will find a warning on some of your cannabis products about grapefruit and taking CBD> Also both are similar in disrupting the way your system metabolized certain drugs in your liver, gut, and small intestine. This may explain interactions with Xanax and depressed breathing even at minimal doses, as well as other unexplained interactions. Please check out this link below.

@donrealtesting Thank you for posting this. The link you provided gives a pretty clear explanation of the situation. I was pleased to see that it is from the company who I get my CBD capsules from! Always knew I liked them.

Personally, I do not take CBD on a regular basis, but it is indeed on my medication list. Unfortunately, there are medications I do take that are not advising grapefruit. Dang it! When I have an upset stomach, grapefruit juice was always my go-to to feel better.

You're welcome. I agree it explains it clearly, however it is confusing. It says just like many things that interfere may cause problems with some people. We know how that goes, meaning it is a clear sign of an issue with those who are sick in many cases, or having problems and can't figure out why! It is not explained in common language, so get lost in scientific terms.

Think of it like this CBD and Grapefruit are the same things. So if you are taking drugs that effected by grapefruit, CBD should be avoided or used with caution. Less is better if you caught in this possible interaction. I will try and lower my xanax, but this may be an issue as it helped for both pain and anxiety for over 20 years. I can also lower my dose of tincture. It comes down to micro dosing.

Yes, it proves once again that we cannot paint the situation with a broad brush, that we are each different. That they have taken the space and effort to have the education on their website is a positive thing, to me showing they care enough for their customers.

Like you, less is better for me. When I do take CBD, it seems the effects are enhanced for that reason – because it is not a routine medication.

Hi Ginger, Right body chemistry is different as well as pain levels. Titration of xanax is dangerous. I split one .5 in half last night, and got away with it. Now this morning I will need the whole .5 or else it will trigger withdrawal. Oh how I remember and hate that feeling. I will discuss with a specialist to see if I can get help lowering it. Doing a search on Xanax and CBD brings up tons of caution sites.

CYP P450 Drugs that share this may cause liver damage, inhibit or induce one or more of the others drug affect.
Drugs that share this are Berberine, CBD, THC, Xanax, BENZOs, Gabbapentin, Grapefruit, other opioids. Seach P450 interaction. I stopped taking my berberine after almost going to the emergency room yesterday. It doesn't take large doses, but can cause damage to the liver over time. My combo was 500 mg Berberine for diabetes, CBD 20-1 ration, 1 mg xanax. All share p450. I stopped both berberine and my Breathing depression or shortness of breath is better.

I'm finding that small doses of the CBD every other day are helping as well. I actually spent almost 4 hours in the E.R. day yesterday, I though I was having a heart attack. I wasn't. The muscle issues I have and chest rib pain, shortness of breath all caused more anxiety and stress, holidays added to it. Got the EKG and Chest Xray out of the way. Dang it is right! With my pain there is no easy answer I guess. I'm at a loss now. Need to get an addiction specialist and see what's happening. I don't have a warm fuzzy feeing about this. I'm still here, but something's wrong.

@donrealtesting Oh, so sorry to hear this. Hoping today you feel less stress? It never ceases to amaze me, how we respond to triggers. Our bodies are wired from generations/eons ago to "fight or flight". I'll be curious to hear what they tell you. Meanwhile, deep breaths, get some walking in outside in fresh air, will that help?

I got a massage today, feels good. Yes, will get out in the fresh warm air today. My chronic pain will last my life time due to massive surgical trauma. I will see if a pain specialist can suggest anything better. If not it's bite the bullet and do what I can to manage it. Every resource I can find. That's why I share here, not to give advice but be around people who like me are doing their very best to get though with those who truly understand.

I went to the urgent care trying to get a solution versus waiting for my doctors appointment. I was given Hydroxyzine pamoate. I was able to reduce .5 xanax. I am happily surprised. I should be able to drop off the other half in a few day. Chest pain seems to have disappeared. I'm not going to ask why, just be thankful.
