First appointment in Gastroenterology: When do you get you itinerary?

Posted by elsa308 @elsa308, May 23 11:00pm

I made my first appointment and the nurse appointment for before I go. I’m going for chronic 24/7 nauseas, I don’t have an itinerary or doctor listed. What should I expect?

Has anyone seen Dr. Adil E. Bharucha? I was just assigned to him and anxious because I’m seeing bad reviews on him.

Hi @elsa308 I share your go-to finding out about providers prior to seeing them. I typically research so I will know as much as I can about who I will meet with so I will be fully prepared. I am sorry you are finding poor reviews that are unsettling.

I am not sure what reviews you are referencing. I did a search and didn’t find much. I am tagging @hew who has seen Dr. Bharucha and also, here is a Connect newsfeed post quoting his expertise:
- Functional Gastrointestinal Orders

Here is more about his background, expertise and research at Mayo Clinic if you haven’t had a chance to review:
- Dr. Bharucha Bio

I am curious what type of information you learned from reviews. What concerns do you have?

@elsa308 I see your reply to @colleenyoung that you have been at The Clinic for a week and leaving soon. I was thinking you found out about a future appointment and planning your visit at this point, still.

I am glad to hear you were able to share your concerns. From one patient to another navigating care at different health systems and various providers, I would like to stay tuned into your journey, and I hope you will continue to provide updates.

How did your week go? What is next?
