Globus sensation: Anyone else have a lump feeling in their throat?

Posted by Karen @fue, Apr 23, 2022

As far as I know I am not anxious about anything. I am retired. I don't have too much pain from my polyneuropathy at the moment. However, I do seem to suffer from a globus a lot of the time. Is this common with anyone else please?

Had this for 20+ years. Had progressed to feeling of wet phlegm in nasal area throat. Constant need to clear throat. Never get anything up but an occasional spit of nothing. Been told gerd or silent reflux. Tried nasal spray, Prilosec, incline pillow. Nothing helps. Diet? I have no idea how to go about it an healthcare in the US is at a minimum. They give you a pill and forget about you. This condition is ruling my life. It is unbearable.

I feel the same way you do! It's horrible. I've had mine a couple years. I've had so many tests done and all those do is find other things wrong with me. I am trying a gluten/dairy free diet, not too hopeful but trying. Sorry you've been dealing with this so long

Sorry to hear your story. I have something similar and not been able to get rid of it either. I tried the spray, and treatments for GERD as well. Clearing my throat often seems worse after meals and is less in the evenings. I'm also on pills to reduce stomach acid as the blood thinner I'm on can make my stomach bleed. What seems to be lacking is a cure--pharmacueticals never seem to cure anything. I developed my problem after I had a stomach ulcer back in 2017 but that does not seem to be related as once cured the same issues persist. Perhaps it's food related, I really don't know. Given that half the time we don't know what's added to our foods these days...
I hope you find some relief/solution. I've just learned to live with it for now.

I’ve been dealing with this for almost four years now. Mine started after getting the Covid vaccine. I also have other LPR symptoms such as clearing throat and coughing after I eat, but the globus is the worst!

Sorry to hear that--my family and I have not had any negative effects from the vaccines except for my son who experience a rapid heartbeat for a couple of weeks after getting his 4th vaccine. I caught COVID 2 years ago, and it was a mild case lasting only a week, with a fever for 2 days and cold symptoms after the fever disappeared. My wife never contracted it. Some individuals have had other side effects from the vaccines which is unfortunate but having lost loved ones due to C19 I'm happy that I was not one of those. I still believe in the science behind vaccinations and have not caught the flu for well over 10 years whereas my oldest brother continuously caught the flu until he finally started getting vaccinated. He had a phobia about needles and used to pass out if he had to have an injection, or get a blood test. I hope you can get over your symptoms and that we can all discover a cure for what we've got going on--it's miserable to suffer any illness.

Wishing you Good luck and better health asap.
Bill
