Generic Entresto vs. Brand Name Entresto

Posted by harleyharry @harleyharry, 21 hours ago

Hi All, I have been on Entresto for a year and it has helped with my Hpeff, particularly the breathing and SOB. However in March they switched me to a generic Entredto which did not work nearly as well as the brand name Entresto. Trying to get the insurance company to agree to a medical exception but no luck with it so far, being 3 weeks of calls. Has anyone else had problems with the generic Entresto?

@harleyharry
I was on Entresto brand for 10 years. My heart failure doctor recently informed me that Entresto had gone generic and that it was safe to use the generic as the main ingredients are the same as brand.

I trust his advice and have been taking the generic for about 6 months with no change. My heart failure (HF) doctor is the Director of heart failure and transplant at Mayo Jacksonville. I have been seeing him over 20 years and totally trust his advice.

For me I went from paying $225 every 90 days to $20 for 90 days. Some people react differently to additional ingredients as they might not be same as Entresto. But FDA requires a manufacturer to have the same main ingredients as brand. Entresto has two main ingredients which are the same as generic.

I have and not having any problems with generic. My HF doctor said that he had not been informed or read any information with any troubles with generic Entresto.
