Gabapentin treat burning after 8 weeks after TURP
I had TURP nine weeks ago. All this time, I have had burning radiating from penis or urethra or perineum, often a 4 or 5 out of 10. Dr. has been trying many thing including Tramadol to no avail. Now he wants to try gabapentin, based on consultation with a colleague who does HOLEP. He believes it might be damaged nerve. Any one has tried this? Does this work?

I don't know if this will be of any interest but I was on gabapentin. First for several week at 300mg and it did noting for my pain. The doctor then put it up to 600mg for several weeks. The pain was still there in my shoulder and down my arm. It is a pinch nerve. But I was a mess . . I could not think straight, dizzy, confused. This same result happened with a friend but much worse. This was my experience with gabapentin. My doctor then put me on pregabalin (for pain) and baclofin (muscle relaxation). I am back to normal. Hopefully you can find the right medication. wzakers.
