Gabapentin for nerve pain

Posted by jrciers2 @jrciers2, Jul 25, 2023

I’m on gabapentin for nerve pain,
Is it OK to just take one 300 mg every hour for nine hours or do I need to take it three times a day 900 mg each dose
My doctor said you do whatever you want
Just don’t take more than the maximum prescribed each day

I’d take 3 at waking up, 3 at lunch and 3 before bed. That’s how I take them

Without any help from your doctor, I guess I'd try asking the pharmacist.

I took Gabapentin for Epilepsy with the hope it might be effective for seizures and Neuropathy. However, it wasn't helpful for either condition.
At least for seizures it works best when a more constant blood level is maintained. Since the half-life of Gabapentin is 5-7 hours I would think it would affect the amount in your blood.
I believe the maximum number of hours to not take any is 12 hours and your talking about a 15 hours gap without any.

I take 600 four times a say for nerve pain across the soft tissue of my buttocks. A pain in the arse, literally. I am not sure how effective it is.
