Adhesive capsulitis or frozen shoulder: What helps?

Posted by Chris, Volunteer Mentor @auntieoakley, Jul 30, 2019

About 4 months ago I was diagnosed with a frozen shoulder, the doctor said take nsaids which I was already taking. Then I had a hospital stay for prancreatitis, complicated by a perforating ulcer and was told it was from nsaids and never to take them again. So here I am responsible for everything over 5 lbs at our house with a shoulder that just never stops hurting. Into my elbow, into my collarbone, and into my neck. Nothing really helps, not ice, not heat, not creams or lidocaine. Does anyone have suggestions for me. The doctor said it would resolve itself in one to three years but in another month I will be ready to cut it off myself.

Physical therapy or a medical masseuse will take care of your shoulder.

I have had two frozen shoulders (in 2000 and 2005.) one fixed by tearing it and one with arthroscopy. Both ok long term. Steroid shot and PT did not fix, but PT after both procedures was good and needed.

I had a sudden onset of Adhesive capsulitis back in 2010. The specialist gave me steroid shots and that took it away. After I started doing aqua aerobics 3 times a week and I never had another problem. Tension of the water is perfect exercise for the shoulders

You need MRIs of the shoulder and Brachial Plexus. You need to see an orthopedic surgeon and a spine neurologist. You're getting the run-around. Yes, NSAIDS wreck havoc on gastrointestinal lining. Good luck, don't waste another minute on massages or anything else. What's going on INSIDE your neck and shoulder is what you need to know.

I had a frozen shoulder in 2022. Saw a shoulder surgeon and she sent for physical therapy for 8 weeks. Must work with a PT with great reputation. I did receive in steroid shot but it did not help. You have follow the exercises at home on days that you don't see the PT. Doctor believes i came down with it due to high cortisol levels in body caused by other health issues in the prior year.
