Foot neuropathy: What gives you relief?

Posted by kathrina @kathrina, Nov 5, 2019

It seems if I get enough activity/exercise daily I don’t have pain; if not, am awakened from sleep and must get up (even in the middle of the night). What’s going on & what more should I do to avoid rest-disruption?

I use the electrical stimulation foot pad for relief from foot neuropathy. It is quite effective. I started at twice a day 15 min each but now do it once every couple of days.

I am reposting this on many threads of this discussion on neuropathy because like many of you, I was in pain and had read everything I could get my hands on for help! I am 74 and just finished a 20 dose series of ALA IV infusions, 600mg ..... 3 days a week at a cost of about $200 per infusion, in Albuquerque, NM. Both feet have been developing a progressive neuropathy for about 5 years. I am otherwise healthy, relatively lean and eat healthy, very little sugar (am not diabetic) take no prescription medication except for an eye drop for dry eye. I stay busy all day, but when I sat down for the evening I was so uncomfortable! And getting more so by the month. I would do all sorts of things to distract from the irritation ... a vibration plate seemed to be the best, but was just a distraction. After about the 13th infusion, I was convinced it was better. I think until then I was afraid to hope for improvement! Now my pain/discomfort is down to about 25% of what it was!! Now I am orally on R-ALA , D, a good multi B, acetyl carnitine and CoQ10 or ubiquinol, but I know that the IV treatment was the thing that helped. It sounds expensive since it's out of pocket, but for me the infusion were money well spent. I sure hope you find relief ! As a post-script, a friend of mine, a 55 year old Parkinson's patient got tremendous results and he did 15 infusions!
