Has anyone found a good alternative to Flovent?

Has anyone found a good alternative to Flovent 220 MG. I am out and tried ordering from Canada but my medication is lost in the mail. Tried the re branded med but it doesn't seem to work as well as the old Flovent.

When the manufacturer stopped making Flovent at the end of last year, my pulmonologist switched me to Trelegy. I found it more effective than Flovent, but it is costly. You should research and speak with your doctor to see if this is a good solution. It is also taken once daily instead of twice. Best Luck!

I use Trelegy and rinse my mouth and brush my teeth afterwards. I have been on it for two years and it seems to be working well for me.

I've used SYMBACORT for over four years and love it. Once in AM and once in Pm. Once in a great while I may have to use ALBUTEROL around four PM if I'm really active. It's over $400 but my social security and champva insurance pays all except for $25 for it .

My dr also switched me to Airsupra from Albuterol inhaler for rescue because of the steroid. I still keep Albuterol for when I have a virus and need more

I hated Airsupra. It made me jittery and nervous. Really on edge after only 4 days. I told him NO THANKS. I like taking my rescue inhaler only if I need it. If my asthma is well controlled I never need a rescue inhaler unless I am sick with a cold or flu, Covid. I usually don't use but maybe 20 puffs per year off of it. Of course, that is out the window when I pick up some weird bacteria which is often over the last year. Then you throw in Flovent is no longer available. Been a rough go but getting better now. At the moment, I am so loving my old Flovent from New Zeland. It is much more like the old Flovent that I took in 2023 than the re-branded stuff they try and pass off as Flovent.

Looks like you are set but just saw this post. I switched from Flovent to Symbacort (Budesonide) and am doing extremely well. My pulmonologist couldn’t believe my FEV1 numbers. Tried Trelogy and hated the powder. I like to use the spacer with Symbacort

When Flovent was discontinued my insurance switched me to Arnuity Ellipta. It's a powder inhaler and I hated it. Felt like the powder always stuck in my throat.

My Flovent, (it is called Flixotide) in Canada, UK, and Nw Zeland , just arrived this past week. It only took 2 months and 1 week to arrive. Man this stuff is better than the old Flovent. It has already started to get me back to my old normal in just 4 days. Not ordering anymore from the first company that I used (which was Canada Drugs Direct 3 months supply for $242.99) but a lady at church orders from another Canadian company and loves it. My new Canadian company will be Discount Canada Drugs. Lots cheaper than the first company too. I can get 3 months supply for $134.00. I use the highest dose manufactured so more expensive for me. It cost just a little more than my 3 months supply of the old Flovent through my Medicare. Here is how you get to Discount Canada Drugs: http://www.discountcanadadrugs.com you can't just look it up on Google and find it. AT least I could not. It is a licensed company and the old Flovent (Flixotide) comes from New Zealand. Apparently, it does take some time to get your order even from here. My friends say they get their medications in 2 weeks and not 2 1/2 months like mine did. Good luck to all of you looking for an alternative drug to the old Flovent. My DR. did tell me that this was OK just make sure the drugs don't come from India, Bangladesh or somewhere like that.

Thanks for the update. Continued success on your new medication.

@1fancydancer and everyone else
I have a question for you - are you looking specifically for the Flovent brand, or are you open to using the generic equivalent?
I have checked a number of prescription formularies, and have found ONLY ONE that does not cover the generic fluticasone propionate 220mcg HFA inhaler. My daughter and grandsons are still using it, at an affordable cost even on their very high deductible insurance.
My entire family has used this generic at one time or another without issue - we always try the generic if offered because we figure it is our duty as consumers to use the lowest cost option to help keep out premiums as low as possible. I used it until 3 years ago when my Pulmonologist "jumped through the hoops" to put me on Symbicort instead because the combined product controls my asthma better. I'm now using Breyna, the generic version, which I feel is 95% as effective but costs 1/3 as much.

I found the Flovent in Canada. I love it . Not sure what is different from the old Flovent in the US but this stuff is fantastic. Got my asthma back in control in just 4 days. It is shipped from New Zealand. AFter it was no longer manufactured here in the states I tried the re-branded under the drug name. Of course, insurance did not cover it and it was trip the cost of the old Flovent. I tried it for 2 months and asthma because a problem on a daily basis. Most generic drugs for what ever reason do not work well with my body. Same with the Thyroid drugs . . . . generics don't seem to work as well and I am forced to take the brand. I tried Symbicort years ago and found myself at the emergency room in a major asthma attack. Doesn't work on me. For the last 30 years been taking Flovent and my asthma virtually disappeared. Of course, as the years have gone by my dosage has increased because of the Bronchicetis and NTM's that I keep picking up. I finally got my Flovent from Canada, Customs confiscated it through the mail system, and it has been like a miracle drug again. It is almost as affordable as my Flovent through my Medicare. I used to pay Medicare $112.00 for a 3-month supply and I now pay $134.00 plus 10.00 shipping for a 3 month supply of Flovent. So I am thrilled at this point. I am not so happy with the US government and its policies on medical care or drugs. The only problem at this point is having to wait for 2 months from the time of order on Flovent (Canada, New Zealand, and the UK call it Flixotide) and hope that our mail system doesn't lose it or the drugs get confiscated by Customs. One of our Georgia Senators helped find my lost Flovent and get it to me. It was stuck in our US mail system for 1 1/2 months. I am stunned at the number of older people in my church who go to Canada to get their drugs because of the cost. This is shameful that in the greatest nation in the world, our citizens have to go to a Northern neighbor to be able to afford or even get our drugs.

I am allergic to all the powder inhalers. 2 puffs and even bread in my mouth feel like I am eating sandpaper. It burns my mouth and throat badly.

Same here. Feel like I can't breathe. Try to rinse my mouth but start coughing. Not worth it
