Fibromyalgia and meds that all make me drowsy. Suggestions?

Posted by azkellyw @azkellyw, 2 days ago

I've dealt with FM for decades, it comes and goes and I've been on so many meds to try to relieve the pain but they all make me groggy or give me a headache. Right now the FM is at it's worst (I'm pre-trx) so I have to be sure to get liver friendly meds. My neurologist yesterday suggested Tramadol which I know my provider won't go along with. My back and cervical spine are suffering from degerative disc disorder making it impossible to do walking or even chair yoga. Excercise helps with the FM most of the time if you can do it. Does anyone have other suggestions of what to try? I've had Lyrica, Gabapentin, Sevella, Cymbalta and Flexiril and others I likely forgot. I hate all of them. Any ideas?

Tramadol is an excellent old drug, effective. My husband had back surgery several years ago and when back pain flared up again he did not want to have vertebrae fusion. He takes 4 Tramadols a day and has been doing that for about 3 years. He functions perfectly living day to day life. I took it for a short while but had a "drop attack" twice, so it is not an option for me. I suggest you try to explore it further. There is zero medication without side effects, all of those medications you mentioned have a list of potential side effects.
