Fever 14 days after COVID diagnosis: Am I still contagious?
I'm so frustrated. Chest X-ray normal. Still having low grade to 101.9 every afternoon. Anyone else experiencing this. I haven't been back to work. What if I keep getting fevers? Am I still contagious?

pcakes79, Bless you. It's my understanding with COVID you are still contagious if you are running fever. 14 days
is a long time to run a fever. Have they checked you for a secondary infection like pneumonia?
Praying for you. Blessings & Prayers...

1 ReactionDefinitely go back to your doctor. Ask them about taking an antiviral like Paxlovid, Molnupiravir, acyclovir or valacyclovir or Remdesivir, if the fever has no other identifiable cause.
My personal experience retrospectively seems to be a case of viral persistence. The 5 day course of Paxlovid taken during the acute illness knocked out fever right away and my testing went negative but I then had rebound and tested positive again just 2 days after ending Paxlovid and I never recovered, just a cascade of changing symptoms hence “Long Covid” now 2 years ago and still not fully well. The most impactful thing has been going on to long term Valacyclovir with benefit discovered accidentally treating a cold sore. I truly believe that if I had been on a longer course of Paxlovid, I may have never developed Long Covid.
Talk with your doctor about it and don't delay. You need a fever workup and a creative trial of an antiviral may help.
I say “creative” because it’s off label. Research evidence to do this are reasonably abundant but enough evidence in completed research isn’t available yet. Your doctor would need to be willing to weigh the risks and benefits and give it a try.
If I were in your shoes right now knowing my personal journey, I would request a 10 or 15 day course of Paxlovid or Molnupiravir right away.

I am still, after 4 years, running hot. At the beginning I had continued tempuratures of 99.8-100.3. I had CT scans to rule out anything that might be brewing, multiple labs and then an Infection specialist MD appointment.
He had said that this is a inflammatory type of virus, affecting the brain, including that which controls our tempurature. There is no known way to test the hypothalamus for this.
Not only do I have tempuratures 99-100 daily, but just the smallest amount of activity causes me to have increased tempurature and sweating.
And no, not contagious, a malfunction that makes it hard to know when I am sick.
Get a workup, CT scans and see an infectious disease doctor. Maybe there is something that can help us.
Thoughts, prayers and positive energy to you.

1 Reaction@sherryoct11 Have you had a complete thyroid panel done with an Endocrinologist? Your
thyroid can increase body temperature as can cortisol levels being out of whack. An Endo-
crinologist can run all of the test needed for this. Just a thought.
Blessings & Prayers....
I've had thyroid labs, inflammatory conditions and infections labs.
I have been dealing with this since 2021.
Just how I am now.
Thank you, I will advocate for myself and request again.
😊😊
@sherryoct11 I am so sorry. Have you been to a Long Covid Recovery Clinic? Integrative
Medicine Doctor? Just some thoughts. Bless you. I know even a tiny bit of fever makes me
feel so lethargic. I have Long Covid, but, fever is not on the list.
I am praying for you right now that you find answers and that the fever goes away.
