I had been feeling awesome but started drinking coffee daily and soda too. Got nausea about 2 weeks ago and can't get back to normal. Cut out coffee and soda. Do you think that was the cause? How long to get back on track since cut both beverages out again? Thanks! Mike

Stay away from the coffee and soda. My oncologist said no alcohol, caffeine, and sugary drinks @ all to assist with remaining healthy and reducing the chance for reoccurrence of cancer. However, with digestion, my nutritionist states to cut out soda, dairy products, and high sugar foods/drinks period. But recommends I can drink coffee in moderation but black. So, I do drink black coffee on occasion without incident.
I do not like taking medication unless absolutely necessary.

@mikejjb123 - tagging a few members who may know about coffee and soda intake and then feeling nauseous @baguette @riflemanz64 @anniegk @pml @marlenec @allmanbrothered @seabright2001. They may have thoughts about whether the beverages were the cause. @ajnos also may have some input.

Mike - how have you been feeling?

The acid in coffee could make you nauseous with stomach pain. The sodas, if you're talking about Coke or Pepsi, have caffeine in them and that could make you nauseated. Good to just stop both and see if still nauseous, if so could be something else going on.

You could try low acid coffee like healthwise brand and use unsweetened almond milk as a creamer. Almond milk is alkaline so you should have most of the acid neutralized. Almond milk is also non dairy. Cut out carbonated drinks and all booze. No smoking period. Don’t drink a lot of coffee maybe 2 cups.

Hi and thank you. It's crazy. I went through a period of about 6-8 months where I'd go for about 3 weeks no nausea and then very low if any nausea for say a week. And then the cycle continued. Now....wake up with nausea daily. I cut out most of the coffee, soda, etc. No change. Weird.

Thanks!

We are all different but i have IBS -C , anything fizzy really causes me severe bloating and immense gut distress.
I quickly learnt that IBS ( mine came after small abdominal injury that became serious) means I have had to totally rethink my diet. The stomach is a very delicate organ, at least for me, it doesn't take much to affect mine. IBS can easily get worse, Mine has, PLS dont trigger yours, I now struggle to eat anything and now have damaged stomach lining. Dont take IBS lightly, its life altering.

Nausea can be a side effect from the escitalopram. How long have you been on it? Does it always happen at the same time of day? Is it daily? With IBS-C are you having bowel movements daily? Does the nausea only happen when you are constipated? Sometimes carbonation when constipated can bring on symptoms. Good luck.
