Fast growing and new nodules

My husband is a lung cancer survivor- 10 years after lobectomy he had a .9 mm nodule- October outer lining of lower left lung. Re scan in 2 months- it was over 2 CM- Last scan was over 7 cm with new nodules and a potential lymph node. Had a bronchoscope biopsy with zero results- no cancer, no infections. They say they might have missed, the node, but fluid showed nothing. Both the surgeon, his college and the pulmonologists think it is an active infection as it is not in an area of new cancers of the lung nor acting like one (SUPER fast growth). Needless to say, terrified does not even cover it. Needle biopsy scheduled next week.
Any words of hope here?

Hello Lisa- THANK YOU for being a mentor. How wonderful. The needle Biopsy went as planned, but we are still awaiting results as they believe it is an infection, samples as are in the lab being cultured. Not hearing anything on pathology at this point, is perhaps a good thing!
