F3 fibrosis and NACs

@load491, I am a patient who lived with a progressive liver disease (PSC - Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis) for aproximately 8 years during which my Primary Care doctor and my Gastroenterologist guided me and monitored my labs until my liver cirrhosis progressed to a level when I was referred for a liver transplant evaluation. (transplant 2009)
One of the main things that both of my doctors continually emphasized was NOT to take any medications or supplements without their approval because it could cause harm to an already stressed liver.
@load491, I have not found any research that suggests NAC for lowering fibrosis. This is something that you must discuss with your doctor because Mayo Connect is a place where patients share experiences and support each other, we are not qualified or able to tell you what drug or supplement to take.

Since you mentioned losing weight -Has your doctor provided any helpful tips for losing weight?
