Excess Mucus in Throat

I am getting over a horrible cold with stuffed up nose and acute bronchitis, congestion and excess mucus in throat. Nightly at 1:00 am I wake up hacking and trying to clear the excess mucus from throat. The weather has been horrid which makes it worse. High humidity and hot. My bedroom humidity is 65 and temperature is 78.
Anything suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have Carbocisteine prescribed? If not, it’s certainly worth asking your GP if they can do that for you. I need to take two capsules x three times a day and - they certainly help me. 🇬🇧😊

It’s prescribed for mucus reduction.
