Exacerbation symptoms
I’ve been trying to figure this out for many months now. What are the KEY symptoms for anyone experiencing an exacerbation. As we all know we experience different triggers to our Bronchiectasis, so my question is am I just experiencing a temporary trigger? Or a prolonged exacerbation where I might need steroids and/or antibiotics? Symptoms for temporary triggers & exacerbation are so often the same. Is there a certain time frame between the two? Is it discolored mucus? Fever is an obvious one I think. Any advice would be appreciated. I hope this isn’t to confusing. Thank-you all, have a wonderful day.

I agree scoop, I know we are all different, but the severity of our disease is different also. I AM NOT criticizing the importance of Doctors or the medical profession at all, but I’ve researched this disease extensively, and it’s been around a long, long time. In fact I did have one Dr. tell me many medical journals, publications, hospitals etc. state “It’s been under diagnosed for years” then she said they only use the term “under diagnosed” because it sounds better than “misdiagnosed”. In fact I’m sure many, many Dr.’s could have diagnosed it as a COPD. After all a lot of the symptoms are the same. All that said we STILL NEED the medical professionals most of whom do give us complete and accurate, wonderful care. But are always regulated by what the legal and political systems, and insurance companies SAY they can do.
I don't have a good feel for whether antibiotics are appropriate for an exacerbation when there are no symptoms of an infection. I'm hoping the CT scan, which has not been scheduled yet, gives some clues as to what is going on. It's disheartening to have increased symptoms and not know why. Maybe Scoop is right about airway clearance because I have been tackling it more hurriedly because it's bicycling and gardening season. Oops!
