Estring, vaginal ring to provide estrogen replacement therapy
Has anyone used Estring for estrogen replacement therapy. Would you please share your experience, pros and cons.
At my age oral estrogen is not prescribed. I have tried inserted estrogen creams and the result is itching and burning.
I have several forms of eczema and react to dozens of contacts, however I did not see any element in this product I should reject.
I'd appreciate your input.

At my age oral estrogen will not be prescribed.
Please share the benefits and side effects of using this product.
I wonder if it could be the estrogen itself causing the reaction? Not ingredients in the lotions or creams. Interesting article.

I appreciate your research, however in my case I don't think it is the estrogen itself causing reaction in estrogen vaginal creams I used. I benefited from hormone therapy for decades until at age 63 my gynocologist said at my age, oral estrogen in the systemed causes to many negative side effects. I loved being on oral estrogen. After that stopped my vaginal tissues began to thin. In addtion, although Atopic is probably the most common form of eczema I do not have Atopic. I have Allergic Contact Dermatitis, ACD, Grover's Disease aka Transcient Acantholytic Dermatitis, TAD, and Perioral Dermatitis, PD, all three are in remission at this time. I have learned much on the Mayo site leading to my control.
My concern is over the ingredients in the ring besides the estrogen and there are only two, silicone polymers and barium sulfate which I have never been tested for.
I did appreciate reading the article you suggested because those of us with eczema must educate ourselves since few dermatologists are knowledgable about eczema causes, basically simply wanting to treat the symtoms. There are so many types with different triggers and different treatments we the sufferers must self educate ourselves.
I have been using the eString for about 8 years. I love it! Tried the creams and vaginal pill insertion, but they were not effective. I do not have eczema, but do have very sensitive skin, especially in that area.
Insurance would not cover the Estring initially. My doctor had to submit some paperwork that I had tried the other options and they were not effective. Once they allowed coverage, the co-pay was $100-200. So now I use the manufacturer coupon from the Pfizer website which reduces copay to $45.
Hope this helps. Good luck!
I appreciate your information. I never had eczema in my vagina, just elsewhere, but like you have sensitive skin there and couldn't tolerate the cream. I considered the vaginal pill insertion yet it has lots of ingredients which I've never been tested for. Your input about sensitvity to the vaginal pill is so helpful because I considered it and surprisingly after my insurance costs it would be $350 for 3 months whereas with the ring it is $225 with my Medicare Humana prescription supplement. I would love to qualify for the website reduced price plan, however with a Medicare prescription supplement, which I pay for, I do not qualify. You clearly are too young fo medicare. Yet that $45 discount offer is good for others to be aware of otherwise it is over $500 even with a free px plan like GoodRx.
Do you any negative side effects at all?
No negative side effects.
After initial concern and a bit of discomfort for a week I am thrilled with the results. Now 1 1/2 months later I am dramatically improved. The secretions are lubricating, not overly so but normal. The burning is gone and I've resumed intercourse, although it has to be taken slowly at first for stretching I imagine. No discomfort after intercourse. One side affect I wasn't expecting, because many reported an unpleasant ordor using Estring is I no longer need to douche with water to eliminate a shellfish odor in that area.
So pleased to hear @gardeningjunkie! Enjoy!
I USE yUVAFERM OTHER WISE I WOULD NO GET OUT OF THE HOUSE.HAD NO DIFFICULTY EXCEPT COST.
Follow up- 2 years using Estring - 100% successful vaginal restoration without any negative side effects which the topical estrogens gave me because of all my allergic contacts.
