Esophageal Cancer stage 4: How do you deal with their anger?
This year has been horrible. Jan 12 our world turns upside down. My husband had a stroke, heart attack and was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer. How do you deal with their anger?

I am so very sorry. I will pray for his peace
It is so hard to deal with! My brother, stage 4, diagnosed Dec 2. As of April 16, 2024, He is still fighting. No chemo. No radiation! He is filling up with fluid now. But he is horrible to nurses and his wife. Nothing seems to comfort him.😑

I could not swallow anything but sips of water when I was finally diagnosed with esophageal cancer. They finally did endoscopy and found large tumor in lower esophagus. But the really good news is that I was referred to Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa near where we live, and they decided to treat me with radiation and chemo and no surgery. Now my scans are clear and I am cancer free. Have you been to cancer specialist and gotten a treatment plan yet?
Lots of support groups, Christ community church elks lodge and the vfw those are my strong holds. Back ground on my self, retired 31 years federal service super happy healthy. Sore throat would not go away. Urgent care kept giving me a z pac send me home saying it’s strep throat. Nope cancer all over the place. I was raging and just destroyed inside. How and why!! Needed to find blame have a resolve support groups more than one are pulling me through. Still don’t know how it’s gonna end. But my anger and anxiety have calmed down
Wow, that’s a lot to go through especially at such a young age. I can see why he’s so frustrated. You’re right, he’s a survivor and he’s lucky to have you by his side. Prayers for you both.
I guess I should clarify. In 2001 he was pinned between 2 40 ton haul trucks, ruptured his Aorta from his heart spent 6 mos in ICU, 2009 he got brain cancer, tumor the sz of an egg in his cerebellum, turns out it was embryonic but made itself known at age 29... We are 45 years old and now Esophageal cancer which has metastised and tumor in his middle, lower esophagus is the sz of my fist. This one is kicking his butt though. I don't know if it's the chemo, or the Keytruda, or if it's just this cancer.
Yes. almost 2 weeks ago he was hospital for Mensetry Ischemia, and severe sepsis. Came home did well skipped Chemo last week, was set for Chemo Wednesday and here we are today back in hospital with follicular colitis, and low hemoglobin. So they had to check for antibodies before this transfusion since he had one not too long ago. It is alot to handle. I am doing the best I can, but some days it gets really hard. I keep thinking he's gonna beat this one too. He's survived through so much. I just keep praying for peace that surpasses all understanding. He was fine yesterday, no complaints of pain or anything.
That is a lot to handle. Thank goodness your son is there to help too. Has your husband been admitted to hospital for the transfusion and for further observation?
Hi. Today, not so good. My son had to call 911 because my husband fell on the floor and couldn't get up. He had a black BM and my son said it smelled horrid. Per the ER doctor he has follicular colitis, and needs a blood transfusion because his hemoglobin is at 6.5. This cancer is the devil! Thank you so much for checking on us.
@aknicoleg73 I just read your post about your husband and his multiple diagnoses. Or, should I say, both of your diagnoses. And anger is to be expected, but it’s never nice to deal with. How is he doing now? Has the terrible anger subsided any? And how are you doing?
What are you doing specifically for yourself?
