Emphysema and Lung Exercises

Posted by sandyspiroret @sandyspiroret, Jul 29 6:51am

I have severe emphysema. I have had a mrl lobectomy, radiation treatments, and I'm on 2 L of nightly oxygen. My scan in July showed my lungs were clear of cancer. I have a serious question, though. I keep physically fit and have a healthy weight. Given the degenerative nature of emphysema, would lung exercises help my breathing? One flight of stairs has me mildly winded.

@sandyspiroret Exercise is important with COPD and can help in many ways https://www.lung.org/lung-health-diseases/lung-disease-lookup/copd/living-with-copd/physical-activity
You may want to ask your pulmonologist about pulmonary rehab so you have access to a therapist who can help you develop a program that is right for you.
