Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR): Any experience?
What help or information can anyone help me with EMDR. My therapist recommended tp me for past traumas I have suffered in the past that may be causing the illness I have been going thru the last six years. Doctors have said it maybe Lyme, but i keep getting worse!
Thanks,

Check out the work of Bessel van der Kolk, md
He is a psychiatrist and leader in the field of trauma and a proponent of EMDR as well as some other effective methods of treatment.
I highly recommend it. I did it with my last therapist she retired sadly. But she brought me back while she was describing the incident that happened to me with my eyes closed. She she said the story in a low voice brought me back to where it happened who it was with and how I must have felt and I started to cry good cry a real good cry. I felt a release We did it a couple of times. And I forgave my abusers. To this day. I plan on doing it with a new therapist I don't know how she is going to work because I trusted my old therapist so much. But it worked for me and I'm going to try it again for some other problems.

A chiropractor does not have the mental health training that is needed for this tool. Stick with a licensed mental health provider who is certified in the use of EMDR.

2 Reactions@gravity3 Agreed, as I said, the second experience was not very effective.
