Eliquis and AFIB

Hardly as knowledgeable as gloaming, as a layman I wondered for what condition were you taking Eliquis, a blood thinner? Is it wise to have been on it at all preceding a “cutting” procedure? And the rule is that only the Eliquis prescriber should say when to stop it. Who was that? I took E. for a full course due to a leg clot. Yes it sucks but the clot disappeared completely in weeks. Might your healed H. have developed a hemorrhage that burst on straining? (Cleveland Clinic). Our 34 YO daughter has AFiB and is recommended and is considering the new Maze procedure. Please get better. We’ll pray for that.

@terrigfield You mention a situation that I have yet to see mentioned in these groups. The process of reversal of Eliqus in an emergency situation. From what I've seen Eliqus is still working 24 hrs after the last dose. What little I have been able to read about the reversal agents available it doesn't sound that readily available and also not that fast acting like the one available for Coumadin. I've gotten to keeping a Quick Clotting kit in my car in hope that I would be able to use it if necessary.

So as good as it is in preventing clots there is another side to it like anything else in life.

Why would you want to take a med that causes severe bleeding??? Not hard to figure out. It is a side effect.

I had once every 2 years Afib for over 7 years and never took a blood thinner even though I was told to take Eliquis . I finally agreed to Eliquis after my last event. That’s when I found out I was allergic to Eliquis. It’s taken me 8 months to feel 90% better. From just 1 week of Eliquis.
Eliquis jumpstarted a major amount of Afib.
Now I take warfarin instead. The Afib has calmed down to nothing for the last 5 months. Eliquis is ez but it’s not good for everyone like they say.

the only place you can get apixaban is through foreign pharmacies like Canada.

To keep from having a stroke and ending up in a "care facility" or dying.

and what is your age? what is your diet? do you walk or do mild exercise daily? do you consume foods or drinks or meds with stimulants? Do you have a high sugar and high in dairy, meat? do you eat fresh fruits and veggies daily and whole grains versus refines and processed foods?

I was put on Bisoprolol at 2.5 and my rate dropped to 50 , which was quite low
So I cut my pill in half and it stayed at 60 but then all of a sudden one morning my Afib kicked in again . The problem with the meds is causing high anxiety , I’m sure there causing the problem
So I was told to go back to 2.5 , because 50 heart rate was ok, as long as it didn’t drop below that
I don’t feel comfortable with that , I have been on Coumadin for 20 years because of a couple clots , I’m not real sure about being on blood thinners either . I totally agree with you on the blood thinners

I take Bisoprolol, it really drops heart rate a lot , not sure about it either, it’s a 2.5

Headache, Diarrhea, Dizziness, Nausea, Fatigue, Slow heart rate
Shortness of breath, Xerostomia, Arthralgia, Abnormal heart rhythm
Stuffy or runny nose, Anxiety, Blurred vision, Sexual problems
Cold hands or feet, Confusion, Cough, Depression, Heart failure, Rash
Sore throat, Sweating, Bronchospasm, Chest pain.

Listen to your body. Clean up your diet. Walk or light exercise daily. Stop caffeine and junk food and consuming lots of meat and dairy products. Google the side effects of Coumadin.
