Elevated Lp(a) levels - does Repatha help?
Hi everyone,
After reading up on it myself, I found out there are hardly any medications available to lower highly elevated Lp(a)= levels. However, I came across Repatha and read that it might also help reduce Lp(a) levels. Is there any chance in significantly lowering an elevated Lp(a) level (above 50mg/dl) with Repatha?
• Has anyone had personal experience with Repatha to lower Lp(a)?
• And does anyone know a doctor who prescribes Repatha for lowering Lp(a)?
Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge or experiences!

On the Facebook forum I belong to for Lp(a), there has been mentioned of Repatha lowering Lp(a) but it may just be about 10 to 20 percent the most. I believe protocol is statin first and if it doesn't lower LDL enough, then add Zetia and Repatha last cause it is very expensive.
I would love to have a doctor who would just prescribe Repatha and nothing else for my Lp(a). It started at 199 nmol, than 207, 238 and finally 240nmol within 4 months time span. I thought Lp(a) remains the same but not for me.
My cardiologist told me that Repatha may lower Lp(a). However, I have been on Repatha for years and it has not affected my Lp(a). There are medications in the pipeline for Lp(a) but nothing is known to lower it as of now.
Adding Repatha lowered my Lp(a) from 185.7 in August 2023 (right before I started) down to 99.1 in January of this year, so at least for me, there's a 50% reduction.
There are clinical trials taking place now if you're interested participating… I started a month ago. It’s a 50% chance, but with a Lp (a) of 258.. I’ll give it a shot.
Sir
