Eczema or autoimmune?

I have been having a problem with peeling skin that starts on the hands and then progresses to the rest of my body. This has happened multiple times per year over the last three years. The local derm just called it eczema and prescribed a steroid cream (which has no effect and can't be used from head to toe anyway). I also deal with autoimmune issues and wonder if this isn't a new manifestation of autoimmune problems. The thing is it doesn't itch, but it painful when the skin gets tight and starts cracking prior to peeling. The current round is agai head to toes, with the new layers hardening and cracking even after prior layer has peeled.

I might get a second opinion if you are still suffering. I recall Dr. Lee on the Pimple Popper show treating a man who had dry, cracking, peeling skin with good results. I had eczema on my hands years ago. It wasn’t a peeling type.

Can you have a biopsy?

I get dry and cracked skin on different areas of my body. Sometimes it iches and other times I notice it when I feel the skin getting dry and flaky. Then sometimes these areas hurt some. I was given a common steroid cream and recently a hydrocortisone cream. Spots come and go.

Just a quick update, derm was able to get me in today and she took a biopsy but believes it is either viral exanthem or SLE Exanthem, with my daily steroid dose preventing the redness you would normally see but not preventing the skin damage behind the scenes, so now I am peeling as skin heals. We will see what the biopsy shows!
