Echolight sonogram scan for bones

Posted by csday @csday, Jan 8, 2022

Has anyone heard of, or had an Echolight sonogram scan instead of a radiation DEXA scan? New FDA approved that has been used in Europe for awhile. https://www.echolightmedical.com/en/company/

@saba

Hello- I had my DEXA with TBS Friday at my doctor and today Echolight at osteostrong.

DEXA Results: My TBS spine result was 1.383 normal architecture. Spine TScore: -2.3; when adjusted for TBS: -1.9; Femoral Neck: -3.2; when adjusted for TBS: -3.0; Total Hip: -1.7 and when adjusted for TBS: -1.5

Echolight: spine: -1.4; Femoral Neck: -1.9
Interesting differences;

I took Fosomax for about 3 months in early 2023; since Oct 2023, I take Evista (raloxifene). Is anyone else on Evista? If so, did you gain weight? I will be 62 next month.

Hello!
I feel for you! All the regular doctors don't believe in bio identical hormones. Not fda approved so no $$$. I am so disappointed in the medical community and I have two Drs in my family! I was on bio hormone creams estrodial, progesterone and testosterone since I was 47! I am now 68…no side effects. I started on pellet testosterone and estradiol and prog pill 100mg in Jan. My integrative med Dr assured me he could get me out of osteo in a year. So against my endos advise….she wanted me on forteo and I refused. I once took actonel for a month and fainted twice. I am done unless my bones crumble. I just had an echo lite bone scan which is a new technology… no radiation. I was shocked at the results. No osteo in my spine and hip -2.0! My dexa last Feb showed spine -1.9 and hip -2.9. So who knows?. My son-in-law is a spine surgeon and researched the efficacy of the osteo lite scan and feels it is accurate. This is my story so far. I take ostinol 450 for the last 8 months. Go on their website. Very interesting supplement. My integrative medical doctor is Dr Anthony Bazzan in Villavova. His website is quite interesting. I wish you well. It is such a difficult decision. Keep in touch. I learn so much from lovely people on this site. Nina 😍

Hi Nina…my estradiol patch is covered under my insurance, I just pay a $20 copay so I’m happy about that.
You started your hormone therapy at a young age. After my hysterectomy at age 48, I was only on hormones for a short time because of all the negative flawed research so until now my hormones are all in the negative numbers. Now with a wonderful cardiologist who strong believed in BHRT at any age, I am on hormones. Unfortunately he passed unexpectedly last month (😢) and am now seeing an integrative gynecologist who is very progressive and agrees I should be on hormones.
I’m calling Osteostrong tomorrow here near my house to discuss REMs. I’d really like to see what difference there might be between that and my latest DEXA. I’d really like to know what the strength of my bones are. If they are strong and BHRT is holding my gains from Tymlos, I’m going to wait on Evenity and continue with my bone loading exercises, weights, pickleball and pray these will sustain my bones. Thanks for all ur info Nina. Let’s keep in touch. Rose 🌹

I go to Osteo-Strong (several locations in Minnesota) and they offer the Echolight several times a year, including several dates in October and November.

Thank you! Do they do the reading for you, too?

Yes, the technician does the reading and gives you the report to take home. Also, you do not need to be an Osteo-Strong member; the echolight scans are open to the public.
