Easily feeling overwhelmed

Posted by aliali @aliali, May 4, 2022

Greetings,
I have depression and anxiety. I can become overwhelmed very easily. Looking into my Social media apps will cause me some fear, pain in legs and breath shortage. My mind tells me this “There are many things you need to read and understand; there is no time and you must show progress immediately” which is total nonsense. Anyhow, I hold the book and try to start reading it.
My mind: There are 357 pages remaining!!
And here we go again; pressure and time factor cause me to become overwhelmed. I throw the book away. I see people using social media continually without feeling this. They don’t need to filter out irrelevant material or less important information. But for me matter is totally different. What can you advise?

I can be overwhelmed at times myself. I also feel the same about social media. I had the opportunity to listen to a talk about the happy brain a few years ago by Dr. Amit Sood that was a eye opener for me and hopefully it may provide some insight for you also. He also has a website you might find helpful - https://www.resilientoption.com/. Dr. Sood gave us the short version of his TED Talk below.
