Dystonia treatment

Posted by jtes @jtes, Oct 27 6:57am

My husband has had PD for several years and has recently developed Dystonia. This causes his leg to be painful enough that he can’t take regular walks which have always been so helpful. Massage and PT help briefly . His doctor has suggested Botox injections and the Physical Therapist suggested regular appointments at Stretch Labs. Has anyone had any luck with either of these or have other suggestions? Thanks.

I had my first Botox injection in my foot for dystonia about 2 weeks ago.. I can't tell any benefit. I had 4 injections in my foot. The doctor said it would be about 5 days before I would seen any changes. The doctor was starting with a low dose for me. She reported that for some people the amount needs to be increased while others have no benefit. I am planning on having the Botox repeated in both my feat. I would like to try it some more to see it it helps. It is expensive for me, with my copay. I did some searching regarding the benefits of the treatment. It is very beneficial for cervical dystonia. The benefits for foot dystonia is less conclusive. Good luck.
