Dyspnea/SOB from Tricagrelor
Hi! I’m 60 and have had asymptomatic HCM until recently. Now I’m experiencing dyspnea(SOB). My troponin stays elevated and I discovered that my PBNP also remains high. My cardiologist said both these markers are high because of the HCM.
I’ve been on Tricagrelor for 4 months and just from last week this episode of dyspnea started. Has anyone experienced SOB due to the medicine Tricagrelor? My cardiologist has asked me to move to another medicine as he thinks it’s this that’s causing the SOB. I hope that is the case.
Would like to know if there are others like me?

Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect @hayech, I am glad you found this site all the way from Pakistan!
I posted a link from the Mayo Clinic about the medication you mentioned, Ticagrelor. I could not find the drug with the spelling you used...hmm. Maybe it was a typo?
While we wait for another member to pop in here and answer your questions if they too have had shortness of breath, or dyspnea, have you stopped using the medication and started a new one?
It can certainly be challenging finding just the right medication to treat symptoms of HCM, and since we are all so different, no two people will have the same results.
I am glad your physician is willing to change your medication because of your symptoms. Is your physician up-to-date on all things HCM?
It is important that they are for your sake, and also important for you to learn as much as you can about what is going on with your heart.
It sounds like you have more than just HCM, having had a stent placed in your LAD. You have to be extra careful with your meds.
Will you be following up with your doctor after the new medication change?
Hi Debara
Thank you for your message. Indeed it was a typo. The medicine is the same you shared “Ticagrelor“.
I have two cardiologist that I consult. Both a Board Certified from the US and are up to date. However there’s no HCM specific clinic here. I’m in fact looking to see if I can do an online consult with an HCM specialist at Mayo.
After changing the meds, I’m feeling all well again.
Thank you for reaching out.
