Dry mouth: Any ideas on how to help?

I have had coated tongue and dry mouth for 3. 5 months. Now mainly dry mouth. Have ruled out gastro , ear nose and throat and blood work and urine samples pretty normal as was ultrasound. Trying dry mouth mouthwash tooth paste and lozenges. Very temporary relief. Never had this problem before. Had bypass 9 years ago and am on beta blocker and atacand and Crestor . Maybe drug related but same drugs for 9 years did not cause it. Anyone have any ideas.

Are you on an antidepressant? Dry mouth is a side effect at least it is with me. I get it mostly when I am active, I usually have a candy with me or a bubbly drink. Sady

@sady For during the day I keep ACT lozengers with me they help my dry mouth Act mouthwash 2 x a day

Hi @duchess11 I have a dry mouth almost continually it drives me crazy but I alternate water and nestle splash a water flavored with lemon, strawberry or orange that really makes mouth feel feel good and cranberry juice and lemonade is Good. All very cold🥰🥰

Something I do is swish with coconut oil for 10-20 minutes. This helps me. Medications have been the cause of dry mouth and also an issue when thyroid is off kilter.

@duchess11 Hi Barbara I found what helps me besides water I swish mouth 2xaday with ACT mouthwash use the lozengers and flavored water not sparkling but as mentioned above

Hi, @parus - thanks for the tip. Just wondering what formulation of coconut oil you use for swishing for your dry mouth? I'm picturing a jar I've had that is semi-solid (sort of like a jar of lard).

I had this problem prior to transplant surgery, but now with all of the medications it is worse. It is a small thing, but it helps--I noticed that I had a tendency to breath with my mouth open, so I have made an effort to train myself to breath through my nose. Since I still get dry at night, I keep water at my bedside.
