Dr. Rick Nishimura's Availability

Posted by rxpert2005 @rxpert2005, 1 day ago

I'm under the care of Northwestern Hospital's cardiologists in Chicago. They are recommending "prophylactic" valve surgery for my "severe mitral valve regurgitation." I understand that Dr. Rick Nishimura is now retired from active practice, but still does consultations. I registered on the MCC department's portal for having my doctor obtaining a second opinion. Is Dr. Nishimura available for it?"

Welcome to Mayo Connect, the members and volunteer mentors on Connect do not work for Mayo and unfortunately cannot answer your question if a specific provider is available.

I searched Connect for discussions about Dr Nishimura, and there was nothing recent.

If Dr Nishimura is still doing consulting, it may be at request of a provider reviewing your case and not at patient request. Even if you do not have a consult with Dr Nishimura, many of the providers in that area were probably trained by Dr Nishimura.

Hope you hear back soon on your request for 2nd opinion.

Great advice and your point of clarity per your role. I was a patient at Northwester Hospital for two different issues when I lived in Chicago admittedly several years ago. Excellent reputation for years.
