Double knee replacement straightening knees

Posted by shandra @shandra, 17 hours ago

I had a double knee replacement done 4 months ago . My bend is just over 100 degrees happy with that ! But the slight inability I had to straighten my knees is the same as before surgery …. 8-10% bend which is about a hand sliding under my knees . Muscles are tight but I do have a physio treatment every week

Any stretching ideas ?

I appreciate you all

Either (1) the best folks to give you this advice is your physical therapist; or (2) if you don't trust the PT, find a new PT.

That professional is best able to judge which exercises will help you, which will not help or hurt and which will hurt you.

My opinion: talk to your PT! they are the invaluable resource when it comes to muscles and joints!

I have the same problem, just one knee though. I could not bear the thought of having double. I do all the PT and everything I am supposed to and the knee straightens some but within a couple of hours it's back to original bend. My PT has been a little to nice to me I think and yesterday he pushed with all his strength to straighten the leg. It was very painful, to the point of crying but I didn't. Today, I can feel it is better so if there is a way to straighten it without pain I sure would like to know about it. From what I can tell, it is very aggressive therapy to achieve. I wish you the best.
