Donor: Circulation/temperature regulation post surgery

Posted by bobby123 @bobby123, Feb 4, 2024

Have any (kidney) donors experienced a change to temp regulation/circulation post surgery. I'm four weeks post surgery and have noticed in last few weeks that my feet are either particularly cold (compared to the rest of my body) or the opposite i.e. sweaty.

@bobby123 Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Thank you for donating. Wish more people would. I’m sorry about your temperature / circulation regulating problem. Are you still being followed up by the team in charge of your surgery? I would start by asking them about your concerns. Another possibility is that your difficulties could be related to a seasonal thing. I don’t know where you are located but where I live the weather is just unseasonably weird! My house mechanicals aren’t responding normally and it is hard to know what PJ’s, clothing and bed linens to use.

I donated in October 2024 & since then I have been almost always cold. I ran cold beforehand, but now it's about twice as bad. I've had bloodwork done, everything seems normal, except for my folate, that was high. But iron & everything related with body temperature looked fine. My doctors haven't been able to help thus far.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has found something that works to warm their body or an answer to what is causing their coldness.
