Does your NJH doctor respond to your questions after you return home?
I've tried MyChart messaging and phoning the nurse. I'm really hesitant to start on any medications if I can't somehow be in contact with my doctor!
Please help set my expectations.

It depends on a doctor, at least it’s my opinion. Let’s say dry Yan the gastro doctor always responds. Dr Eddy my ID responds but not right away, i would call NJH infectious disease dpt or pulmonary dpt and leave a message for the doctor. Usually the nurse responds. I also call my ambassador, either talk to her or leave a message- she will call and ask her to contact your doctor. This makes it urgent.

I had to be persistent to get the pulmonologist I had at my NJH visit to get back to me after my visit.
He actually finally called me.
Some of the problem about getting doctors to respond to our messages is the time element for them during the day. They are overwhelmed and why they are going to concierge practices.
It is a shame with what we are and will be experiencing in the future due to how the medical field is/has changed and will change. Added to that is the numbers of doctors available and the numbers of people who are living with health problems today. So far it doesn't look good in the future. I keep saying to myself, since I do feel fine so far....'you can't get sick.'

I guess all it took was being so frustrated that I posted this question. I called them again and all of a sudden I got answers to the questions I had been asking. So yay, all is okay now.

@lilianna I called the nurse phone number again and got a different nurse, who looked at my MyChart messages (and their timestamps) and graciously assured me that a nurse would be calling me back that day (yesterday). In the meantime, the doctor was responding to 2 of my MyChart messages. A nurse did call me back and we talked through some of my remaining questions, which we decided were really questions for the doctor. So instead of sending more MyChart questions to the doctor, I decided to wait until my follow-up visit to ask them.
@letsjustbreathe thank you. It’s a process and sometimes I think it’s easier to have a doctor close. But on the other hand, they are the best, I hope
