Does glycerin cause yeast infections?

With the exception of Vagifem and maybe the ring, it seems like the remainder of vaginal estrogen contains glycerin which can cause yeast infections. Is this true?

Bioidentical vaginal estriol/estradiol may be compounded with any additive or lack of any additive.
This is one reason why so many women lean towards a compounded hormone.
Or...
Women can also use hyaluronic acid suppositores which boost moisturizing and then add a systemic estrogen topically to back up the hyaluronic. The systemic estrogen is absorbed and used vaginally. Hyaluronic is also good for the bladder and used in bladder installations for IC/BPS.

@kathleen1314 , how often should the hydraulic acid be used? I use the estradiol twice a week. Does it matter which brand?

Well, I alternate it with my estriol vaginal cream so.....
I use the hyaluronic 3 to 4 times a week. I am currently using the hyaluronic in a probiotic suppository, but I have a compounded hyaluronic suppository which when I use it,instead of the probiotic with hyaluronic, I cut into thirds or quarter. This is because the compounded hyaluronic seems stronger than the one in the probiotic suppository.

Determing dose:
I basically go by my reaction. You will notice a plumping effect, and your own body will tell you how much of that is good. My younger body could handle a greater dose of hyaluronic vaginally; my older body is still arguing with me, so I go currently with the "less is more' philosophy.
Women who are not using an estrogen vaginally frequently do more days a week of the hyaluronic or some alternate with a vit e suppository. At least this is what my friend, who is a patient at Soan Kettering, says the doctors there suggested that she do. (Hyaluronic suppository alternated with the vit e)

Brands....I have only noticed that the hyaluronic which I order on line is much more expensive than the one which my compounder makes up for me, plus, the on line brands have more additives. I have used the via and the Revaree brands in the past with no problems. I use the compounded version now. My compounder can just do the hyaluronic with the base, cheaper and less products with which to worry about having a reaction.

I only order the probiotic which has hyaluronic because I do not know if my compounder can compound a probiotic. I will have to ask him. 🙂

@kathleen1314 , thanks and why do I need a probiotic one?

Also, I’m a little concerned that staying so moist every day will cause yeast infection. With my estradiol, I don’t have dryness. So….do I need the hydraulic acid anyway? I’m all for prevention! Plus…plumping sounds good too! Lol.

i need the probiotic; I am not sure that you do.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) suppositories are generally safe, effective, and not known to cause yeast infections; in fact, studies show they may actually inhibit the growth of Candida albicans. While they add moisture, they do not create the kind of wet, trapped environment that typically triggers yeast infections.

@kathleen1314 , I think I’ll try them. I did notice they aren’t inexpensive.
