Does anyone have/wear inserts in their shoes?

Do these actually correct or help your condition? Are they for your feet, back, hips? There are these Good Feet stores popping up but there are no doctors there to fit you. I wonder.

I have spinal compression due to a fall and severe osteoporosis, and a lot of back muscular and bone pain from both would orthopedic shoes and or inserts help alleviate this pain??

I looked up Hoaka sneakers/runners.
They look so nice. and it has the strong side protection
as well as the protective thicker sole.
I mostly shop at Winners in Canada.
The benefits are the price and I can try them on.
I usually buy the name brands.
I have a small supply, as I buy runners when I see them,
for 'back up'.
The Power Setup inserts look similar to the Scholls that
I buy. I also have 'back up'
The price may have increased since I quoted around $18 Cdn.
As Gretchen says, it helps plantar fasciitis.
I won't say 'I had it' past tense. It probably will flare up
if I don't take care of it.

Arch supports from places like The Good Feet Store can help some people with foot, knee, hip, or back pain by improving alignment, but results vary. While they’re designed to support your arches, the store doesn’t have medical professionals or offer custom orthotics. For mild discomfort, they might be worth trying, but for ongoing or serious pain, it's best to see a podiatrist or physical therapist for a proper evaluation and personalized care.

@mikala: Shoe inserts really can help foot, leg, and even back pain. However, Before you put out the $cash for Good Feet, try $27 arch supports through Walmart! Walk-Fit is a firm plastic with adjustable instep inserts. I used the “standard insert” and it worked so well to solve my sciatica back pain that I convinced my stubborn (Missouri born) husband to get them for his painful knee & hip pain. It has worked for us & hope others will find relief and even be proactive of all skeletal pain. If walk-Fit isn’t available in store, order thru Walmart’s online shopping site (men’s & women’s sizes available).
I never was tempted to spend the hundreds of $ when I got relief from the much cheaper version of arch supports.

Thanks for the info.

If you have high arches and need support, a running shoe categorized as "stability" or "motion control" will work. Hoka Arahi model is one example.

My orthopedist gave me a bunch of exercises (the usual ones for scoliosis, osteo, etc...) and told me to stop hunching over - my mother always told me to sit up straight too, but she never told me why - and that's made a lot of difference, along with good shoes. I had Hoka Bondi 7's which were the best shoes ever, until they wore out and I went to New Balance Fresh Foam More v.4's, which are now the best ever. I agree w. aliyakhan that a podiatrist is a good resource too.

I shopped for Hoka shoes on Amazon but due to their price and mixed reviews on them wearing out too fast, I purchased two different pairs of Brooks and they are very comfortable. Amazon is nice because you can return them for free if you aren't happy with the fit.
