Dec 11th I was tboned, had 5 broken ribs, hospitalized for 2 days , released got home, and I bent over to pick up a sock, and felt and heard a pop. I was rushed to the hospital where I endured a chest tube placement. A broken rib had punctured my lung. I was admitted and treated for 11 days. They gave me Gabapentin and did not send me home with a script for taper down and wean off . Released on Dec 29, on Feb 1, I got a migraine headache that lasted 3 days( I never get migraines) now on 2/3/26, I began to have muscle weakness and shaking in my body. I resemble a Parkinson’s patient. Does anyone know if this because I was cold turkey forced to quit Gabapentin??
I have had it severely in my right hip/buttocks/upper thigh area, but went on prescription medication gabapentin, twice a day!
It took care of it 100%,
HOWEVER, a few nights ago I was in a deep sleep on my right side and woke up in the morning with pain in my hip area.
Now the pain has come back and I have it when I walk and even more so standing still!
Sitting there is no pain whatsoever!
I’m still taking the gabapentin, twice a day, and I’m going to give it until this time next week.
YES!! I have it severely on right side. I had an epidural injection just this past Thursday (2/05) and I think it made it worse!! My doctor said it could take 2 weeks to feel better. Hoping and praying it gets better. Mine hurts worse when I am sitting down. If I get up and walk around, it gets better. I’m on gabapentin 400mg 4x daily and it doesn’t help me at all with nerve pain, but it does make me sleepy!
Good luck with yours ❤️

@awrightok223 Headaches are a sign of withdrawal from gabapentin but since you were on it for less than 2 weeks, I would not think your symptoms are from it. This is just my opinion. I think you need to see a doctor if it continues.
Did you stop gabapentin because you thought you were having side effects?
Did you talk to your doctor ABOUT the side effects in relationship to the gabapentin?
I think that would have been the thing to do before cold turkey with the medication!
The side effects I have kick in about 90 minutes AFTER I take my morning dose
I get a mild case of ‘loopiness’ and sleepiness for about 90 minutes and that’s it.
Side effects I can definitely live with to have the quality of life at 72.
Now I do know a lady who had side effects where her feet were spasming up and causing her big walking issues and discomfort so her doctor weaned her off!🤷🏼

I have a far-lateral disc at L2-3 with severe sciatica and radiculopathy going on 2 years. Surgery has not been recommended yet, no relief with ESIs, PT actually exacerbated symptoms. Would like to hear how others with similar conditions, especially far-lateral discs are managing pain. Thank you in advance for any advice

Hi
I went to a cranial sacral PT and the pain is 98% gone ( I do stupid things and it comes back, it usually goes away). I know this is not a cure but. For now I can live a semi-normal life.

JFN
If you name a city near you I can ask if there is one nearby.

@jfn I’ve done PT twice, including cranial sacral, the 2nd round exacerbated symptoms. I do appreciate your reply and suggestions. You’re very lucky to have gotten relief.
@awrightok223
To add to that, does anyone know what can be done to fix the symptoms?
@leehop71
Thank you for your kindness, prayers, hugs, and empathy!
