Does anyone have periodic abdominal cramping?

Posted by stvedt @stvedt, May 4 5:04pm

Whipple in June 23' with chemo before and after. A month after the surgery I had an intense pain just below the Diaphragm that is very painful and I gasp for air for several minutes then it subsides. It happens randomly but at least once a month. Today it happened again one week after the last occurrence. Surgeon and Oncologist don't seem to know what it might be, anyone have this experience. I'm 14 months after diagnosis and 10 months after surgery feeling good except the cramp events.

I used to experience something similar in the mornings after my first meal whenever I ate something containing too much sugar… such as pastries, sweets, sugary cold cereal etc. it eventually went away as I changed my diet.

I had severe cramping after my Whipple. It happened if I ate something too fatty or rich. Since I now avoid those things like potato chips, ice cream , deep-fried foods, etc, I rarely get that. As each year went by (it's been 4 years since my Whipple & chemo), I can eat a wee bit of some of those things and no longer have that. For me, it was gas ! Yes, the pain was really sharp sometimes and I could hardly breath for about a minute or two. I guess it's my innards (what's left !) screaming NOOOOO fat !

thanks, I was thinking coffee, cream and sugar, as that seems to precede it sometimes.

thanks, I'll pay attention to the fat intake and sugar as I've always had a sweet tooth and still find myself reaching for snacks.

I use "no-fat creamer"...found along side all the other coffee creamers that are loaded with fat & sugar.
