Not the first opthamologist to mention I have macular puckers/wrinkles, What are symptoms, anything to "smooth out" these puckers?

@1995victoria Wow! I have only heard of this twice before - several years ago, one of my best friends experienced this, and she had laser surgery to release the membrane that was causing the problem. A gas bubble was introduced to hold things in place while the eye healed, then it eventually dissolved.
Two weeks ago, our ophthalmologist informed my husband that this problem, in both eyes, is the source of his diminished vision especially at night or in low light. He will be treated in May. So we had a long chat with my friend on New Year's Eve, and she said her vision was largely restored and she is monitored twice a year in case it begins to form again.
Have you seen a specialist yet to see what your next step is? What symptoms do you have?

I don't know why you don't just ask your doctor.

I had macular pucker in one eye and had to have retinal surgery. My vision is definitely better. My surgeon was a retina specialist, which gave me more peace about the procedure.

I have a macular pucker that is stable and has not affected my vision. Therefore, I have not needed surgery. I believe they are caused when there is residual scar tissue on the retina when the vitreous detaches during a posterior vitreous detachment (PVD). PVDs are common with aging.

I was diagnosed with a slight macular pucker a year ago in my left eye. After cataract surgery in this eye several years ago vision didn't improve a great deal and at last appointment I was told there was macular pucker. Doctor said to wait and see....so I am going in for another checkup soon to see if there is any change. Symptoms I can't say for sure are due to the macular pucker, but I have experienced poor vision with need for an upgrade in my glasses, and also dry eye and currently use OTC drops twice a day.
