Does anyone have experience taking low dose Remeron for sleep?
I'm having terrible insomnia in the last stages of my Klonopin taper and my doctor prescribed Remeron. I have not started taking it yet but after some totally sleepless nights, I'll feeling desperate. Just wonder if anyone can give me their experience.

Hi evez! Wondering about weight gain. If you are active/exercise, can you avoid the weight gain?
It does help but my experience was that it started with 6 hrs sleep but got down to 4-5. I also did not feel the anti-depressant component was helpful.
@evez . I was wondering if you experienced weight gain or high blood pressure using Wellbutrin. I noticed it stop mostly my negative thoughts but BP was crazy...thanks
Caused terrible weight but no help otherwise

1 ReactionI take 7.5 mg for sleep. Very minimal weight gain and I think it does affect my mood (have never been diagnosed with depression but it does run in my family)
Has been the only med that has helped me sleep.

1 ReactionHi...I've experienced high blood pressure so my np told me to half the pill. I still had high blood pressure but it was in 130's. I think that it kinda high but the ringing in my ears got louder the higher my BP rose. I haven't been on Wellbutrin long enough to decide about weight gain. My appetite has decreased but it does every spring and summer. I am probably busier. Take care
I have been taking low dose Remeron for a long time with no ill effects. It helps greatly. I fall asleep without staring at the clock spinning. Try it.

1 ReactionMy doctor has me on the 15 mg dose which is supposed to be the right dose for appetite stimulation. I need to gain weight desperately.
I have had insomnia for a very long time and take Ativan 3-4 nights a week between .5 and 1mg.
but then I don't sleep for the in between nights I don't take it. I am afraid to take Ativan every night because it might not work and then becoming addicted but at almost 81 should I even worry about being Addicted??!
I have no quality of life. So I have been reading about those who are taking Remeron as I am thinking of asking my Dr. to put me on it. I have anxiety too. But i too am worried about weight gain as I have lost at lot of weigh in the last 10 years.
Has anyone experienced taking Ativan every night and does it work each night ??
I would be very interested hearing from you.
Tried cbt 1 counseling but at $250 for 50 minutes i just afford to continue.
Anyone ha any luck getting more affordable cbt -1 counseling?
Looking forward to hearing your comments. Thanks

1 ReactionI started this discussion back in 2023 when tapering off Klonopin. I took 1mg for sleep for well over a decade and it was very effective. Remeron did nothing. I took it for 4 months and did not sleep or gain weight. I also tried melatonin and Vistoril. For the past 18 months I have been taking Lunesta and it works very well for me. If your dr isn’t concerned about the Ativan, I’d just continue it. CBT -I did not help much either although I am careful about bedtime routines, with a cool, dark room and no tv in bed. Best of luck to you. I’m under the care of a compassionate sleep neurologist who has assured me it is better to take a sleep aide than to not sleep.
