Does anyone have benign paroxysmal positional vertigo?

Posted by cynthia69 @cynthia69, Mar 30 11:01am

Ever since covid I have had benign paroxysmal positional vertigo off and on. This morning I had the worst spinning I have ever had. Do you think the shaking caused by the vest could cause ear crystal to be dislodged? I have been using the vest with no problems for 2 months.
Thank you for any comments. Cynthia 69

I wouldn’t think that would shake your head enough to move the crystals around. But just my thoughts. I have woke up a few times with my head spinning and no idea how it was caused. Another time I know exactly what caused it. My clock had fallen to the floor next to my bed one night. I hung my head off while I retrieved it and then flung my head back up hard and fast and I felt it begin. In the morning my head was spinning so much that I threw up just walking to the bathroom. During those times I have googled the Eply maneuver and tried to do that while laying in bed. It might not work immediately, but I think it helped. Thankfully my episodes have lasted less than 24 hours.

Thank you very much for your reply. I did do some maneuver and it is much better. I am a big chicken and every little thing scares me. Cynthia 69

You are welcome. It is a very unsettling experience. If I remember correctly, I’ve also read that you need to stay hydrated so those crystals can keep moving and not get lodged.

I've had BPPV for probably 30 years. I've used a vest for 4 years or so. I haven't noticed an increase in spinning since using the vest. The Eply maneuver is useful for me in keeping my balance moderately in check. (I have other balance issues beyond ear crystals). Whenever I start to feel a little off, I try to do the maneuver once for twice a day for a a couple of days.

I have similar vertigo since November after covid in October. No vest but an increase in antibiotics.
Even did 6 weeks of PT

I was never able to do the Eply manuver myself. I have a very good chiropractor
that knows how to do it exactly. Works every time. Call around and ask
"Do you know how to do the Eply manuver."
