Does anyone find that a type of shoe helps your foot neuropathy?

Posted by lorirenee1 @lorirenee1, Mar 25, 2019

I am on a constant quest for shoes that don't kill my feet due to the neuropathy. I find that Spencos and Wolky shoes seem the best. Are there any other suggestions? Shoes can be just crippling for me. Horrid.

I have found that running shoes give the best support - there are many brands, which is good when it comes to finding a brand and style that fit. For neuropathy pain, it seems the Powerstep insoles have really helped a lot. I had acquired an ankle injury from overuse - my orthopedic doc suggested them to help with the injury, But, it turns out they made my feet much more comfortable as well. A total bonus! They make them in different support levels - I use the memory foam style for every day use.

Hi, I am new here. Although I would not wear these out for shopping etc, I find that Crocs work for me in the house. I keep a pair next to the bed and slip them on as barefoot, especially in the morning, is very painful.

Hi @lisa12
I recently purchased Merino shoes online. They are made of wool and are so lightweight that a pair weighs less than a pound. They keep your feet cool in the Summer and warm in the Winter. I wear them without socks. They come in lace up or slip on. For extra toe room I ordered men’s (they recommend that on their website because women’s wide sells out quickly). They come in many colors. They are made in California. Search “Merino Shoes” to order. I love the way they feel on my feet. They are stretchy and soothing to my achy/burning toes and feet. I liked them so much I bought a second pair. They are expensive but have sales on them. When I think about how much money I have wasted on uncomfortable shoes the price is worth it.

Hi, Thank you for this information! I am going to look for these. I like the lightweight shoes too. I spent alot on hiking boots and I don't like to wear them as they are so heavy.

I would like to add that when ordering Merino shoes… if a woman orders men’s shoes for more toe room you need to go down one size.

I do the same. The minute I walk in the door I take off my shoes and put on my crocs. For my tennis shoes, I go to one of those running stores and have them fit my foot for whatever needs to be compensated for. It doesn't necessarily address the neuropathy but I think helps address some of the effects of the neuropathy on my feet.
