I was diagnosed several years ago and I still don’t completely understand it. I read information on the internet but I still don’t understand it. All I know is it appears as red spots on my skin and now they itch sometimes. I was prescribed plaquenil but had a reaction from it. I quit seeing my dermatologist because all she did was prescribe cortisone cream. I just buy it from Amazon now. Sometimes it goes away but then occasionally I have bad flares of it. Hope this helps you but I know it’s not very informative. Good luck.

If you can manage well with topical creams that is good news.
Make sure your primary doctor is aware and has access to your records and
lab results. They may check your lab regularly to assure only your skin needs
treatment. Use your sunscreen as advised by the dermatologist. I would consider a vitamin D supplement.
Hope you continue to do well.
