Digestive issues since heart attack and stent
I am a 66 year old woman who had a STEMI in Feb 2023. I am now on diff medications from those I had been on (which didn't agree with me) but now have an intolerance to eggs. I'm taking candesartan, nicorandil and simvastatin. I am 170cm and 50kg. I have a healthy appetite, and the intolerance began around a month ago. Has anyone else experienced a change in their bowel habits, including weight loss, following a cardiac event and the associated medication regimen?

I had a heart attack around the same time as you. I am on many meds now. If you have weight loss I would call your Doctor and set up appointment. Something is not right.
Wish you the best.
There is no specific value at which you should be concerned about weight loss. But general consensus is that a medical evaluation is needed for if you lose more than 5% of your weight in 6 to 12 months. The major concern in weight loss is that it can be due to cancer but in that case your appetite is also decreased. Sometimes weight is lost for no apparent reason and after a while there is weight gain which restores the weight to original weight .
But still see your doctor.
Yes, I'm seeing my cardiologist this afternoon, but wondered if anyone else
with similar meds had experience this issue before speaking with him.
I too have had issues, lack of appetite, loose stools, nausea, weakness. Plus fatigue. I honestly think it is due to the Plavix. Would love to hear what your cardiologist said.
I was on this for 12 months, and thankfully was able to stop it after that. I feel my issues were with the beta blocker. Once I went off them, digestive issues lessened. Cardiologist yesterday didn't believe that the meds were the issue re egg intolerance, but suggested that it could be related to my recent flu vaccination. Hopefully the intolerance will dissipate. Feeling better on this new medication regimen. I hope you find someone who can give you some answers. Don't stop looking for them.
