Daily build up of face fluid
I am on 17.25mg prednisone for PMR I have tapered from 40mg I am wondering if anyone else has the problem of daily swelling of face & eyes starting about 1 to 2 hrs after dose in the morning & it continues to get worse as the day progresses it affects my eye sight as well & makes me feel really yuk When I get up in the morning I don’t feel it until after I have taken my next dose I do realise that you can get the moon face from it which I have that doesn’t bother me so much but the daily swelling is not nice at all If you have experienced anything like this I would love to hear about it please

I've had puffy eyes since I was diagnosed with PMR. It was especially bad this spring with the addition all of the tree pollen where I live. I usually use cold compresses on my eyes/face in the morning and evening which helps. If your eyes are swollen enough to affect your eyesight, I would definitely talk to your Dr. about that. I've tapered to 6 mg prednisone and noticed the fluid retention has reduced as I've tapered.
Hopefully it will get better as you taper, but remember, in general it's best to taper slowly. Also, keep in mind the swelling is not a permanent thing, it will get better!

2 ReactionsI was told that there's an Rx we can take if we experience uncomfortable swelling from the prednisone. Have you discussed this with your doctor?
