Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain?

Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain? I've had 2 doctors push this on me. I know that the side effects can be terrible and getting off of it difficult as it requires titration. One time I remember taking one pill, and not liking the way it made me feel, so not taking any more, and still feeling the "weirdness" from it 2-3 days later. and that was only 30 mg Please pass along any experience or advice from this medication?

I am on it to help with my nerve pain but I'm also on it for depression. Do you have depression? If not maybe why you feel off. Also meds take about 6 to 8 weeks to get use to. Just my experience with the medication roller coaster ride. It's an awful ride.

I used high dose duloxatine for over 30 years after a spinal cord injury left me with central nerve pain. It worked reasonably well. However I now have moderate to severe gum disease caused by years of dry mouth caused by the medication. If you do use it, I suggest discussing it with your dentist and discussing methods to increase salivation.

I have chronic dry mouth. I am getting reports back of receding gums, I didn't realize the med caused gum disease. Thanks for that share.

Sure, it’s listed on the long list of side effects but doctors rarely discuss the long term risks of dry mouth

It was awful for me. Bad NAUSEA, and a drugged feeling, needing to lay down, and a headache.
I'm....not....going....to....take....it.
All the drugs affect me badly. Gabapentin will give you leg and toe cramps, bad ones and make you feel like you are drugged all the time.
I do know people who can tolerate Gabapentin well, just not me.
I hate nausea. So they are both off the table for me!

I've been taking Duloxetine for my depression, along with another med, for several years now. I'm also taking 3600mg of Gabapentin daily for the nerve pain in my feet.
I haven't noticed any major side effects.

It gave me awful nightmares and didn’t help with my pain.

I too was on Cymbalta for neuropathy, and it did not do a thing for me.

Everyone reacts differently to medications! It's hard to believe there are no side effects for some, and instant side effects for others! I took just one pill 30mg of Duloxatine and I felt too drugged to leave home. I've been nauseous for two days now waiting for it to leave my system. I'll deal with the pain some other way. Truthfully, I just wanted to know the cause of mine because it is such a mystery. Doctors want to give you pills and say "oh well". Maybe there are no solutions to most nerve problems.
