Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain?

Yes...not much help.

I was put on duloxetine to help with my neuropathy pain of my lower extremities. I quickly gained a lot of weight. I was already on Vraylar for bipolar & the fluoxetine made my thought processes & mood quite unhealthy. Bottom line, it did not help the excruciating pain of neuropathy. It just wasn’t worth taking it after 3 weeks so I took myself off of it. Luckily, I suffered no adverse side effects by stopping the medication so abruptly, which I do not recommend. Pregabalin helps much better.

Everybody can react differently to various medications that are recommended to assist them with a specific health problem. Some of them work great for patients and others experience horrible side effects. As a long time patient managing several long term disabilities with many challenging health issues associated side effects etc. I’ve tried most all of the most recognized prescribed medications being used today. Including the CYMBALTA you are inquiring about. If you don’t try it, you won’t know if it will assist you or not. Conversely, if you try and feel horrible side effects, stop taking it as soon as you can. It was absolutely horrible for me. Additionally, LYRICA is another popular medication that’s prescribed a lot these days. I also experienced horrible side effects from that as well and discontinued it. I actually experienced “suicidal thoughts” on that drug and stopped taking it immediately!!!! I didn’t have any suicidal thoughts prior to being on the medication. It’s actually stated as one of the possible side effects!
Now, those were my personal experiences. Others have had more beneficial results. The bottom line. Try any medication that makes sense to you to find out how it affects you and then decide to continue it if it’s beneficial and terminate it if it’s not.

had A MORPHIEN pump and was pain free for 15 years but the came back and now i have a spinal cord stimul;ator which doe not work
does any one tried some thing else and found that it has helped

I will tell you I was part of a class action lawsuit filed against them years ago. I told my doctor for MONTHS if not a year that something was going on with my head. I said it feels like when you touch an electric fence and that zapping feeling, it's going on in my head. It feels like my brain is being electrocuted. I was also hearing metal on metal banging during the night. I thought I was dreaming and when I'd open my eyes it would stop. I could lay there and the minute I closed my eyes, but was not asleep yet, I'd hear it again. I was watching tv one day and this commercial come on about a lawsuit for Cymbalta and said if you have experienced shock like sensations, hallucinations etc while taking Cymbalta......and I said...that's it!!! I could never explain the symptoms so someone would understand. I immediately called them. I had symptoms documented for 2 years before the lawsuit even surfaced. It took about 2 and half to 3 years to settle everything, because I filed early and I think there was still like a year for people to get their suits in, and I only got $3000 after the lawyers got their 25%, I think it was, but that was free money so I was happy. People who had attempted suicide, family members of people who had committed suicide, people hospitalized for extended lengths of time, etc were the ones to get the most money. I have not taken Cymbalta since. My PCP put me on it for pain and said it was a miracle drug because it was used for many things. I've been seeing pain management for years now. Never again with the Cymbalta and I'm surprised they are still allowed to prescribe it but like all meds, they affect people differently.
