I have tried Cymbalta (Duloxetine) but I can't fall sound asleep with it. I would like to give it a chance but I need to sleep. I take it for pain after my hip replacement.
May I suggest Trazadone for sleep. It is an Antidepressant taken before bed. I sleep through the night. Have been taking for a long time, for me no side effects that I know of. I took Cymbalta for 1 day. I have Thyroid Autoimmune Disease that has effected me for years, Uticaria I was in remission until I took the pill. Incase anyone has same Autoimmune Disease thought I would add that.

I forgot Trazadone does help my Pain.
I take Cymbalta first thing in the morning and it doesnt interfere with my sleep but I tried the evening and it kept me awake. Try taking early on the morning
Does it help for pain. I take gabapentin but it is not that great.
Yes the Cymbalta does help with pain, fatigue, and depression. I tried gabapentin and it did not help me
If it were not for Cymbalta I probably would not be alive. I am now taking 60 mg dose, an just increased the dose to 2 60 mg tablets. One in the morning and one tablet in the evening,

I take 30 mg. Of Cymbalta and 200 mg. Of Sam e in the morning and it has made a huge difference in my depression, fatigue and pain. I was surprised at how much difference the low dosage helped. It took about 2 months for me to get the full effect and in the meantime my doctor wanted to double the dose but I wanted to wait and see if I could get by with less medication and it worked. I don't need 60 mg but I did need to give it time and happy that I did.
@amazingteal, Good evening. I certainly concur with your enthusiasm about Cymbalta. It has changed my life from muddy, anxiety-filled days to a more positive outlook and a commitment to doing whatever I can to live a quality life.
I am at 60 mg in the morning. What is the benefit of taking a tablet in the evening? Were you replacing another medication with Cymbalta? Thanks for taking the time to reply. May you be content and free of suffering. Chris
I just wanted to jump into any discussion of Cymbalta. My therapist put me on 120 mg when it finally worked. For fibro and for depression/anxiety. It leave a nasty taste in my mouth, even water tastes weird, but otherwise, love it. I was taking the total dose in the morning when I realized it was making it hard to stay awake, so I switched to nighttime before bed (like many of us, I have chronic sleep issues) and it really helped me to get 7-8 hours every night. I would love to hear other Cymbalta stories. Thanks, Peggy
So glad Cymbalta is helping you. I take 60 mg (Duloxetine) at night and unfortunately my pain defeats it for a good hour or two every single night. Last night was 3am. However, once I do get to sleep…I sleep like a rock. Weird right?! We're all different.
Hope you got to sleep until 11:00! Do you get weird taste stuff from Cymbalta? I didn't at 60 mg., but now am at 120mg which the psychiatrist says is the best dose for me, and now everything tastes tinny, my mouth is always dry and only the most bland food works otherwise I get heartburn. Yes, we all do react differently–I like to think of myself as a lab rat for all the drugs I have been on and then off of over the years….

No, no strange taste for me.
@peggyann69, Good evening,Yes, the dry mouth seems to get worse. I carry a contigo with ice water everywhere….and begin to panic when I run out. Of course, that makes it worse. My mouth can be so dry that I cannot talk….that may be a blessing to my friends. I use the Biotene pocket spray.
I don’t taste anything. My taster isn’t working well these days. Everything seems bland. I tried that new 3M dry mouth product. That made me feel like I couldn’t swallow. I also put it in my Orajet water. It appears that you do the same,,,,,keep trying and testing. What do you want to happen next? Have a peaceful sleep. Chris
Thanks for all the tips about Cymbalta dry mouth, no taste…gee, I want to be able to taste things, though this syndrome certainly helps me keep weight off–however, full-fledged chocolate–like say Godiva, Ghiradelli–and real ice cream full of sugar–these I can taste! If I could live on bread, pasta, chocolate and icec ream I would be happy–not a good regimen for and old lady with high cholesterol! I will try your tips–and the sugar of course adds to my pain load–ah well…I am glad to know you have the same issue and what you have tried! thanks!
Gave me frequent and painful urination. Just took a pill this am and got very dizzy also. Last time I took it before I tried it again today I couldn't sleep all night.
How strong is your medication and do you take anything else.
