Hi Colleen, yes, I do want to seek a second opinion at Mayo Clinic. Thanks for sending the link and for connecting me with other patients with my diagnosis of laryngeal chondrosarcoma. I was able to chat with Deborah which was very helpful.
Thanks again,
Jane Heinstein

It sounds like you’re getting a second opinion. I am a survivor and thriver. I was told the same thing as you that a laryngectimy was the approach. Fortunately I went to Mayo and found Dr. Moore who saved my functionality on two occasions starting nine years ago. I urge you to seek him out. There is no one better! God speed!

Thank you Jeff! I’m so glad to hear that you’re doing well. It’s very comforting to know that there may be an alternative to a total laryngectomy. I have requested an appointment specifically with Dr. Moore, so I hope I get to see him!
Best wishes for your continued good health.

I hope this is helpful. My condition is different from yours.
My thyroid cancer was outside wrapped around my trachea and cricoid. Post thyroidectomy and a few lymph nodes....there was a 2cm tumor on my cricoid.
I underwent 35 radiation and 6 chemotherapy Treatments. Post treatment, the cancer/object on my cricoid is shrunken and inactive. They will continue to monitor.
Sending healing vibes.
