Yes he does cough alot right after nebulizing but his coughing sometimes goes on all evening. The pulmonologist thinks he needs to stick w the nebulzing 2x/day and the vest 1xday and she is checking w xray for pneumonia or infection.
There are multiple things that can cause mucus, you may know this, including a possibility of more forming after we eat. You might want to google: Are we making mucus every time we eat?
I have a hiatal hernia and it can cause mucus also.
I have to clear it almost constantly all day long. For me I have no idea if it is the BE causing the more mucus or the hiatal hernia. Hiatal Hernia's for some people do cause more mucus. But I think I would rather know it is forming and that I have to clear it than have "silent mucus'.

I'd consider environmental factors, such as air quality. I live in L.A. and, as a result of the fires, I have noticed an increase in my coughing and mucus production. Does your husband wear a mask when he is outdoors? That may help. Just one idea to consider. Good luck.

Hi mirsy. I recently had surgery and coughing would not be a good thing. I nebbed the morning of the surgery and skipped the PM session. I usually do 1/2 vile of 7% sod chlor and 1/2 vile of the 3% and use the most powerful compressor I have. The next morning after the surgery I only used 3% sod chlor and used a "weaker" compressor. This worked great and there was very little coughing. About 2 weeks post op I went back to my old routine and coughing returned--only during the session which was normal. It was obvious I needed to get back on the old routine as the first day I coughed out green and brown stuff. Best to your husband.
My husband has bronchiostatis and does nebulizer 2x/day and vest 1xday. Tonite he started coughing after second treatment and has coughed all nite long - cant rest or relax. He has Albuterol. Has anyone used this successfully for calming down a cough? Thanks so much for your help.
